I have the privilege of working with White County Middle School Renaissance Club, mainly as the local Dance Lady and webmaster. Over the past five years their festival has grown from being mainly a school affair with performances for parents, to an open-to-the-public event inviting acts like Paolo Garbanzo, Craig of Farrington and Johnny Phoenix, among others. In addition, the club itself puts on a fantastic chess match with a different theme each year (last year The Peasants Revolt, this year Vikings vs Wendol), a play, and this year added the dance troupe, which we tongue in cheek named Two Left feet (and I thereby became Miss Steps). This year we just danced but if we do it again next year I have some plans for making a comedy out of it, in addition.
I came to this accidentally. My son attended the middle school last year and the year before and has beeen a staple in the chess match for three years. My wedding a year and a half ago was Renaissance themed, and I forced my poor wedding party to learn some dances for the reception. The following year was the first year we had a Masked Ball at the WCMS Renfest, and this year added the dance troupe.
Since all of my dances are learned via the Internet, I'd love to hook up with others who know dances (and probably at some point join the local SCA chapter to see what they can teach me, as well).
In other interests, I love animals and horses in particular and one of these days would like to deck my horse in Renaissance regalia and put him in the local parade. I am learning to make chainmaille jewelry and will at some point sell my wares. I also enjoy singing and playing the violin and viola, and am teaching myself to play Irish fiddle after learning classical violin.
That's me in a nutshell :)
